Google Buys Anti-Virus & Anti-Spyware Company
A short press announcement on the GreenBorder site states:
GreenBorder Technologies, Inc. has been acquired by Google, Inc. We will continue to support our existing customers through the end of their current subscriptions.
That’s all, folks. Google has gobbled up an upstart company which basically was providing anti-virus and anti-spyware prevention technology to the masses. The small Mountain View company has been in business since 2001 providing Internet security products to both consumers and large businesses. It appears that Greenwood will continue to support its products until the subscriptions run out for its existing customers.
What makes Greenwood so different? It does not use a database of definitions to block and recognize bad software. Its technology basically quarantines the user’s sessions when surfing, receiving email and so forth and, when done, it dumps all the information. Basically it runs the Internet software from inside itself. Interesting.
So now that Google has this new software, what do you think it will do with it?
Comments welcome.
