TechMyLife - Guranteed Laptop Buy Back - Deal Or No Deal?

  • No Related Post

I recall an incident about 5 or 6 years ago in which while performing some service on a business computer, I mentioned it was just about time to replace the systems which were about 4 years old. One on the employees mentioned that shouldn’t computers last more than 4 years? I responded they can, but business systems take quite a beating since they are used so much compared to home systems. I also mentioned that new boxes cost about $600 which in 48 months equaled out to about $13 a month or so, and where could you find a employee who would work for that amount to do the same amount of work the computer did, plus without having to pay any benefits? Several weeks later I was replacing the systems. :-)

When I read about TechMyLife it first seemed like a novel approach to not only recycling laptop computers, but to pickup a few bucks for the unit as well. I think after reviewing what TechMyLife has to offer, this may be one of those decisions that each of us may feel different about. Its like buying a new car and deciding to purchase outright or to lease.

The basics of what TechMyLife does, is for a service fee [mine was $10 for my lappy], they will buy your laptop from you at a predetermined price during a certain length of time. Amounts will vary depending on the type of system you have and the length of time you plan on using it. TechMyLife further describes themselves and their site as:

  • Don’t get stuck with an obsolete laptop. TechMyLife will guarantee to buy your current laptop for up to 2 years at a price we set today.
  • Ship your laptop to us for free when you’re ready to upgrade, or simply decide to keep it - there’s no obligation to sell.
  • Reduce the cost of your next laptop upgrade. more info
  • Make owning a laptop for the short-term affordable, for instance while at school. more info
  • Protect the environment by ensuring your laptop is reused. more info

Like I said, this type of plan may not suit everyones needs, but it is something to think about.

What is your opinion? Deal or No Deal?
