I Need Your Help - This Is Your Place - What Do You Want To Read About?

Some days when I post articles to read here on LG, I often think to myself ‘will this be interesting?’ During the past six months or so, I have written articles dealing with Microsoft, Google, Dell, Computers, Vista, Linux, Software, Hardware, and mainly have kept on track, or have tried to, writing about technology in general. But there is one common theme that comes back back to haunt me. Does anyone care about these topics, or do I write to entertain myself?
You see, I am totally into technology and fell in love with computers when I first bought a system back in 1985. It was kind of love at first sight. I took to the technology like a duck takes to water. I still recall the day my wife came home to find our new computer laying on the floor with all of its parts strewn across the room. I wanted to see what made this baby tick and to my surprise found that there wasn’t much hardware to learn and was relieved when I put it back together and she fired back up without a hitch. Relieved because after paying $2000 for the system, I don’t believe the wife would have been that understanding had the system not worked.
Over the years I was fortunate enough to have not only been able to play with my own computers, but I had also gained the trust of many clients that allowed me to work on their systems as well. I believe I have encountered every hardware or software problem known to man and beast alike. Just like Ivory soap, I was able to solve about 99.999% of computer problems I encountered. The other .001% we don’t talk about. They were situations that even baffled the computer guards.
So here is where I need your help. I have listed some items I would appreciate your thoughts on.
- What would you like to see more articles about?
- Would you ever consider recommending my site to your family or friends?
- Would anyone be interested in doing a guest article about something that may interest you or that you have expertise in?
Any thoughts you may have would be appreciated. As always, comments are welcome.
Thanks, Ron

Honestly Ron, I find your site (blog) pretty darn good already! My suggestion would be to keep doing what you are already doing (This from a guy whose first computer was an Apple IIe - A Xmas gift for my two sons who are now both well paid geeks!)

Ron,
What you are doing is great. The site is clean cut and no one should be offended by any content that you put out.
I find that the types of articles that you put out, give good reading. But they do not lend themselves to wanting to answer back. Otherwords:: I read your article, I like it, but you have answered any questions that I may have, and given me links to study. I am happy and go on to read the next article.
So I find that you do such a good job, that I dont answer.
You also have very knowledgeble people who read your articles. That should tell you something about how you come across. There are 10,000 sites that give junk information out about computers. There are very few sites that make you want to come back and read again and again. You have created such site.
So in my mind you need to do what you are doing, Just blend some new ideas from your readership and keep up the good work.

PS
First computer, Apple IIe $2400.00 around mid 1980’s.
My Son grew up pounding the key board and never stopped, He is IT tech for large midwest firm. I wish I had half his knowledge about computers.

Dual boot Kubuntu and Vista:Setting up partitions
I want to do a dual boot of my Vista system with Kubuntu.I want to create the following partitions
1.Vista System
2.Partition for storing my documents
3./
4.Swap
5./Home
I would like to make partitions 1,2and 3 primary and the rest logical. But my reasearch shows that before u create a logical drive you have to create an extended partition and put the logical partitions in them.Could anyone who is familiar with Kubuntu show me how to create these partitions while installing Kubuntu I am installing Vista first.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the reply. Sounds like you have two sons you are very proud of.
Hi Kyle,
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll just keep doing what I have been doing. This week has been a long one having been away for 4 days. But I’m ready to get back into the swing of things.
vrs70,
One of the best sites I have found for dual booting help is over at Scots Forum. There are people available in the Linux Forum that can help you manually setup your partitions. All the best.

Thanks again to everyone who has replied, Ron

Ron, I couldn’t NOT make a comment on your request for comments. I concur completely with the previous comments. Many times I’m tempted to put some bytes on the screen, but as pointed out, nothing to add to your fine presentations.
I go back to the Commodore Vic-20, as it had the best keyboard amongst the offerings at the time, and I was very active in the digital modes within ham radio. Then of course came the C-64 and my very first “real” pc was a used AT&T desktop with a P1 processor and Windows 3.1 installed. My how times have changed.
Keep up the good work, and for God’s sake, don’t do a Fred Langa on us!
