Another Dell Petition On IdeaStorm - This Time It Is For Firefox

I must admit that I am surprised that Dell seems to be really listening to the people who are posting their thoughts on Dell’s IdeaStorm web site. Dell has taken serious two previously asked for items by consumers. First by still offering Windows XP on selected systems and than deciding to offer Linux on selected systems.

This latest petition with some 70,000+ signers wants Dell to preinstall Firefox web browser as well on new systems. Now this is going to be very, very interesting. You see Google pays out millions of green backs to Mozilla since Firefox defaults out to using Google as the main search engine.

So picture this. Dell needs to kick it in gear and get their PC market rolling again. It would make sense if Dell were to install Firefox on their systems, with the Google search engine and for this added exposure Dell could get some green backs of their own.

This is a win-win situation for all three. Dell picks up some cash, Mozilla gets more exposure for their browser and Google generates more revenue.

One last thing. New users would get to try a new browser that they may never have gotten to try, since most new computer users will only use what comes on the system.

What do you think?

Sounds good to me, but I think Opera should be getting in on some of the action, as it is faster than any other browser, and has proven time and again as THE MOST compliant to standards.

Heh Marc,
Opera better make some noise or they will get left out. :-)
