If you haven’t viewed the antics over at Orange County Choppers on TV, you have missed a family that is listed in the dictionary under ‘dysfunctional.’ The Teutel family consists of Paul Sr., Paul Jr. and Mickey who together form the backbone of Orange County Choppers, which is actually located in Rock Tavern, N.Y. and not as one might suspect in California.
Formed in 1999 Orange County Choppers has distinguished itself as one of the worlds top builders of custom bikes. The machines being build at OCC are custom motorcycles that are hand crafted by the trio [not really - more on that later], and which have been made specifically for some of the worlds rich and famous. Hollywood stars, corporations and just plain rich folk use OCC when they want to show off their companies or themselves with a theme bike that reflects the company or person.
Since 2002 this family has been on TV demonstrating their skills at taking tubes of steel and molding them into creations that can only be described as true art form for the motorcycle enthusiasts. The master mind behind the creations are Paul Jr. who seems to be the creative one in the bunch and who does most of the work on the show. Paul Sr., seems to be the PR man and does very little of the actual building of the bikes. Mickey, I’m not sure what he does.
OCC as contracted by Intel to build a state of he art motorcycle using the baby blue Intel theme logo that we have all become familiar with. The actual airing of building the bike will be on TLC (Discovery Channel) airing July 12th and July 19th. If you have some time to kill, you may wish to watch the show. Warning: This show is not for the timid. These men use some fairly harsh language towards each other and door slamming rages are the norm.
What you will see though is creative genius in the making once they complete their sculpturing of the bike.

It funny that I like this show, because I don’t like choppers. But you are right about your assessments of the family. It also is funny when they talk about things, any thing really, as it always seems to start an argument.
Part of why I watch is I’m always looking for ideas. I like cars more than motorcycles, and yet there are lots of ideas that can be used from this show.
The end product should be very interesting. I envision a 17′ LCD on the handlebars, like a heads up display, and a wifi antenna hanging off the tail.

Hi Marc,
I like the show as well. But the BIG question remains. What does Mikey do? LOL
I recall one episode where they finally got him to ride one of the bikes. He was scared stiff. His eyes were bulging out with fear on his face.
He appears to belong in a Prozac commercial!
