Apple - Why Does Everyone Think The Delay Of Leopard Means Anything?

The announcement by Apple that they will be delaying the release of Leopard, the latest operating system for the Mac, has caused quite a stir in the technology field. Rumors, conjecture and some down right lies, yes lies, are popping up all over the Internet. First of all, the only one who knows the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth are the folks at Apple.

So what’s the big deal? I don’t see what the problem is. Apple is taking their time preparing the new operating system for public release and wants to be sure that it doesn’t go the way Vista seems to have gone. I believe that Apple wants to have a operating system that, for a lack of a better term, works. Sure there may be a few tweaks here and there, but for the most part it will be complete.

We also have to remember that Apple is a small company compared to the big boys in Redmond. Plus they haven’t quit celebrating selling 100 million iPods, which that in itself should win kudos. The introduction of their Apple TV and new phone also is zapping their resources to the max. So a little patience by consumers will go a long way in helping Apple to complete all of their mighty goals. Plus I think we are fortunate to have a tech. company that wants the best they know how to do ready to go, and not pushing something out the door before it is ready.

Good job Apple. :-)

Comments welcome.

PS I don’t even own a Apple computer, iPod and I am not planning on buying their TV or phone. I just believe that credit should be given the Apple folks and they deserve our backing and support.

I agree. I also am looking into purchasing an Apple. I unfortunately want the $4k model. I do wish they would release OS X for everyone, and become a primarily software company, which is what they do best.

Although it seems that going to Intel hardware will be a big hit, I truly wish they would have stayed with PowerPC architecture, as it was reported that a breakthrough came right after they decided to abandon it. Or what would have been cooler still…an AMD Apple with a completely new processor, leaving behind all the bad things done by the original PC architecture [not enough IRQs, etc.]

Heh Marc,
You might as well get the big eight banger they just came out with.

I was just going to buy one but the Mac store was closed today. You snooze, you lose. LOL

I’m confused. Who’s making a big deal? Everything I have seen and read says they are delaying it to ensure the iPhone is ready to go by it’s release date. Sounds reasonable to me.

They made a huge deal out of M$ being late. It’s only fair that we treat them the same (kin of the devil lol)

This is just a few of the bashings, there are many more.

Hello Mike,
Agree. Equal treatment for all. LOL

I have been an Apple fan since the IIe. I have personally owned four Macs, plus my iBook G4. I also have a PowerMac, G5. I bought two Macs for my grandchildren and I must say they have all been great. I also have a Windows laptop, that I seldom touch. When I was working as technology coordinator for a school district, I worked with both Windows and Macs. Problems with Macs were virtually negligible, and most of my maintenance budget went to keeping the “Windoze” units working.

I have an iPod and I am thinking about purchasing the Apple TV. The Apple logo has always meant quality in my opinion.

So, I am not fretting over the delay of Leopard. Apple usually gets it right. Using an Apple is fun as well as productive.

Hi Lin,
Thanks for your comments. Be patient. Time goes by so fast it will be here before you know it.
Regards, Ron

We’ve all, well most of us probably, lamented the fact that MS would let their marketing wonks tell them when to push a product out the door, and they’d trim features from it in order to make it so. So, Apple’s probably got the right approach in this case. Good, cheap, fast, pick any two, eh?

Since it will be my first Mac purchase, and I don’t ‘need’ one right away, I’m waiting with anticipation for both a hardware and software ‘tech refresh’ and then I’ll be buying something from them, for sure. So, I wait a little longer, that’s all. I guess I know what I’ll be getting myself for Christmas. But I’ll bet I’ll be happier in the long run.

Hi John,
X-mas will be here once again before we know it. So waiting awhile longer makes good sense. I sincerely hope you enjoy your new Apple.

Let us know what you think of Apple compared to a PC.

Thanks, Ron

What Do You Think?
