Microsoft - No March Updates? Not True - Vista Had Them

Well I must admit I haven’t been using my Vista system at all during the past week. I have been playing with different Linux distributions or was using Windows XP since some of my software still doesn’t play well with Vista. But yesterday I had read that Vista did have some minor updates, none listed as critical, so I decided to fire up the Vista box for a look-see.
Sure enough. There were two updates listed as important and 6 others optional for a total of eight updates for my system using Vista Ultimate.
Which brings up the question. What does Microsoft consider to be updates, patches or fixes? Are they only critical updates that qualify for mass media attention?
Another question I have is that I subscribe to the TechNet newsletters from Microsoft. And I don’t recall reading about any Vista updates being available nor anything being mentioned from any of the security updates I received from Microsoft as well. Why is that? Could it be that this is a hush-hush matter to keep the public uninformed?
Remember that I am not a conspiracy nut but this does seem odd. Had I not fired up my Vista box, I wouldn’t of known about the updates.

I know that Visual Studio needs a patch just to run on Vista and that update was out just a few days ago

Since I bought Vista Ultimate for my laptop I have had nothing but trouble since the day I installed the program. I had to end having to pay out more money to reinstall it onto my laptop by an I.T tech even then I still have problems on the start up and also the system runs very slow, now this was installed on a Toshiba Satellite A100 which also states that it’s Windows Vista capable. Now as a very miss lead and unhappy customer I will say that in my own defence I will not recommend Vista to anybody….
