Microsoft Says No March Security Updates

In a rare turn of events, Microsoft will not be issuing any critical security updates for the month of March. Scheduled to be released on March 13th, 2007, only the Malicious Software Removal Tool will be updated.
On the Microsoft Security Response Center blog is the following statement:
“For the month of March 2007, we will not be releasing any new security updates on March 13, 2007.
We will though be making our regular monthly update to the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool.
We also will be releasing two high-priority non-security updates through Windows Update and Software Update Services and four high priority non-security updates through Microsoft Update and Windows Server Update Services.”
This is rather strange since it is the first time in 18 months that no patches will have been released.

Hello Charlie,
Well I don’t think all of the hackers took the past month or so off and are sitting on a beach in Hawaii.

I truly and without malice must say I think they are probably so busy fixing Vista to make the growing pains go away that there just isn’t time for any attention to XP or any of the server operating systems. Also, as I stated before MS seems to be pinning high hopes on Virtual PC 2007 and during a demo of it and Vista on the MS Launch tour it failed miserably. More than 50% of what we were to be shown did not work, with no explanation given. The hardware was top notch and so that was not it….hmmmm another half baked 1.0 product?

Hi Marc,
Thanks for your thoughts and comments. As always, it is appreciated. And I agree. There wee fixes that should of been isued this month for reported bug problems and that were ignored.

No updates probably because Vista SP1 coming real soon, and XP SP3 rumoured w/o March 23 - putting the final touches on those? Just a thought…
