Feds Say No, No To Microsoft Vista - For Now

Both the US Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Agency are taking a wait and see approach about using Windows Vista citing compatibility issues between the software they use and the new operating system.
And in looking around the Internet, there are two different trains of thought being expressed.
First the anti-Microsoft folks sees this as just another indication why all of us should switch to a MAC or use Linux.
Second the pro-Microsoft people say this means nothing.
Both of which are incorrect. All this says to me is that some of the software written previously may not work correctly on Vista. And especially since one of the federal agencies is the FAA, I would sincerely hope they wait until they are positive that their software will work correctly. Actually I think they should wait until at least 2008, since I have two plane flights scheduled already for 2007, and would appreciate arriving at my destination in one piece.
Comments anyone?

The last thing I want is Vista running my airplane!
I’m in the pro-Mac camp, but am interested in how things are going with Vista. I’m wondering if Apple’s forthcoming OS will be greeted with enthusiasm or the same negative response. I’m wondering if we’re entering the post-OS phase, where we are now truly ready to embrace internet applications. When an operating system just needs to get you on the web.
Shelly Palmer wrote a good essay on the topic (“Cracked Windows”) recently.
I’m not sure if it’s just a Microsoft problem, or if maybe there is a “big shift” going on.

Hell David,
Thanks for the comments and also the link. Interesting read also by Palmer. And it may be truer than we think. What if the browser itself was the OS that got us connected to the net to allow us to use net apps?
Regards, Ron
