Vista Key-Gen Crack Most Likely A Hoax

Yesterday I received a Google alert concerning a key-gen crack that had allegedly cracked Windows Vista and the writer stated that it really, really, really worked. My first thought was that I doubted that Microsoft was going to allow Vista to be compromised by a 25 cent parlor trick. But then again… you never know. Software keys have been circumvented before.
So I took a look at the site where this alleged tip came from, and I noticed that the link to the key-gen wasn’t available and that the only information concerned a file that you could not locate, no matter how many Googles you did. Not even the hacks, or the hackers, had hacked it.
Which is really strange since I would have suspected that this would have been a prime hack and a definite feather in someone’s hat. I mean there were even some semi-experts who had publicly stated the hack worked and one who had stated that he was able to generate no less than two keys that worked on Vista.
But it seems that the poster has fessed up to the prank and no such key-gen ever existed. At least that is the story today. You have to love the Internet for the stories and rumors that seem to take on a life of their own.

A certain group that I won’t mention here did post a keygen for volume licensing via UseNet, February 24th. The screenshot looks real, and the group has made numerous other releases that look legitimate.
While this means it’s probably not a trojan in disguise, since I don’t need it, I won’t take the risk of trying it.
As for a total crack - nothing to see there.

Wouldn’t it be great if none of this nonsense was around. All it would take is MS removing the garbage from Vista and XP, lowering the prices, and extending the courtesy of trusting that the majority of people will do the right thing.
I have found that if treated fairly, most [not all] will behave in the correct manner.
However, not only does MS waste more of our time and disk space [that really riles me…even with disk space at an all time low, why should I have to have code that wastes some of my space and does nothing for me] but now they say that each copy of Vista can only be installed twice. If I have really bad luck [and I have in the past had 4 MSI motherboards of the same basic design fail in 10 months] and it happens again, I will, according to the EULA, have to buy another copy of Vista, along with the 3rd switch to a new motherboard. That would make me say hasta-la-Vista!

Oh, also…I will say that I feel CERTAIN that someone will crack part or possibly all of the protection scheme…to which MS will respond to it with an OH-SO-NECESSARY security update.

Vista is cracked and will be cracked even better than it is now. I personally hope a keygen will come out, but if not, I’ll maybe waste a while trying just to see why no one else has been able to.
