Dell Computers – They Want Your Help and Ideas!

Dell has a new website up and running called ‘Dell IdeaStorm – Where your Ideas Reign”. The site has different options where a user can:

  • Post your ideas about Dell products or services.
  • Suggest new products or services .
  • Discuss with Dell and other users.
  • And what Dell has planned for the future.

In roaming around the site, two posts caught my eye:

“Would love the ability to have a clean Vista install. No AOL software, no earthlink software, no google software – just a clean, original OS.”

“It’s impossible for a home user to go to Dell.com and buy a computer that’s not loaded down with software they don’t want.
Is it so hard to ask to build a Dell with Windows and Office on it, and nothing else? That’s what my mother-in-law wanted.
Instead, she bought a Mac Mini since she couldn’t get a Dell like that.”

Both of these suggests have a common theme that most users have been complaining about for years. Get the crude off of the computer systems. Both of my Gateway laptops came with JUNK that I would never use, like AOL, Earthlink, trialware software. It took almost 2 hours to get this stuff off of my computers. And once I did, it was amazing how much better the system ran minus the dead weight. Uninstall the trial ware from Norton or McAfee Suites, and your system will thank you. :-)
I know that OEM’s install these softwares to make a few extra bucks paid for by software vendors. But if I want this software, I know where to get it, and don’t need it shoved down my throat. Or at least provide the end user a simple way to delete the software all at once, and not one at a time. Grrrrr………….!!!!!
