VA – Hard Disk Missing – What Is It With These People?
The VA [Veteran's Affairs], has reported that a hard disk was missing, but no accurate count on how many people’s records may have been compromised. Rumor – 50,000 or less. What is it with these people?
It was just back in July, 2006 that a laptop was stolen containing information on millions of vets. Fortunately that laptop was recovered and undisturbed.
Hello, maybe you need a IT person who knows how to encypt your data folks. Also maybe some training in hardware safety and how not to lose a laptop, hard disk or thumbdrive.
It sure would be a lot cheaper than having to notify all of the vets who’s information may have been stolen and paying the cost to monitor their credit reports. Oops, forgot, They are a governmental agency and cost is no object.
