Windows Vista Community - Up and Running

For those of you who have taken the plunge and either upgraded your system to Windows Vista or who have bought a new computer with Windows Vista prinstalled, you may wish to wander over to Microsoft’s New Community Vista site.
The site includes discussion groups for Vista including installing, hardware, software and other problems that you may be experiencing. As well as to some recommendations and procedures to follow.
There is also a section on columns, blogs, current events, and other websites also listed on Windows Vista Community and also User Groups.
The site overall is very easy to navigate and I didn’t have any problems finding what I was looking for. And what was I looking for? I am giving some thought to a video display upgrade that will support the new games when they surface which will be designed to function with Vista and Direct X 10. And I want something which supports the NVidia chipset.
Suggestions welcome. And comments as always are welcome.
Take a look at the new Windows Vista Community website and see what you think.

It’s a good thing that Microsoft actively formed and maintains a community that could share their views (whether good or bad) on the new OS. I’m sure that the Windows Vista producer and other software experts have poured in and will continue to give their 2 cents on the problems surrounding the operating system. I was apprehensive at first in shifting to the new Windows due to incompatibility and device driver problems. However, I found a forum where it assured prospective Vista users that driver dillemmas won’t hound Vista users. One of the forum’s visitors suggested http://www.radarsync.com/vista as a solution to potential driver problems since it has a complete database/collection of Vista drivers. The site is very reassuring. I’ll be shifting to the new OS next week.

Hello Franz,
Thank you for the driver link. That is absolutely great.
I am sure this will save Vista users a lot of time searching for drivers. TWO-THUMBS UP !
I’ll be sharing this information in a new post shortly. This is to good not to share.
Thank you very much, Ron

I have been a beta tester for Vista when it was LongHorn back about 4 years ago.
People may notice some delays when using IIS on Vista. A way to increase performance is to install Simple Server from www.analogx.com
This utility allows you to simply make a single folder in your system your server. Now you can place a picture or html document in that folder and see if it is available on he web. If so you can stop the simple server and then proceed to start IIS.
This is perfect for people who simply want to publish quickly with no configuration. Simple server is drag and drop, you drag the folder you want to serve and it is started automatically.
I thought this may help those who do not know IIS but need a quick server now.
With Simple server you can get your webpages and web publishings up and running on the net without the hassle of IIS. Not hat IIS is a hassle but is not readily understood by novice users.
Simple Server allows Novice Vista users a way to learn hands on about web servers. Once the concept is known then the user can start and stop the 2 servers or use advanced options such as port assignment.
By using sites such as www.dyndns.com to forward dynamic dns a person can run a mobile server from a Vista laptop. I use a HP Pavilion dv2000 with all the upgrades. By using the dynamic dns and the Simple Server I am able to do LIVE streaming video from my laptop into eBay auctions and websites automaticly without having a hosting service.
