A comment from a reader named Franz, directed me to a great website that is being offered for Free, with links to Vista drivers. This should save many of you countless hours trying to root around the Internet searching for a driver to get your hardware working properly in Vista.
Franz - again, thanks for sharing this link.

[…] If you have vista, you may want to get vista drivers. Vista and XP have similar performance. And finally, if you just want your Windows XP to look like windows Vista, check this out. […]

Will Vista have a driver to run an HP 832C printer?

Ron Schenone - February 5, 2007 @ 5:06 pm

Hello E.J. Stitt,

The last time I checked over at HP’s site, they were in the process of working on drivers. Unknown if the 832C will be one of them.

When XP came out, it took over 6 months for HP to have software available to work with it for my then all-in-one. I don’t get it sometimes. It’s not like nobody knew that Vista was going to be released to the masses. Why it takes so long sometimes to get drivers is beyond me.

Good luck.

Like next Christmas, you mother in law’s birthday and many other things everybody in the computer business knew Vista was coming. In 32 and 64 bit versions too. It’s inconceivable to me that drivers for the majority of hardware are not ready. I bought a new Soundblaster X-fi card. They tell me the driver will be ready by late summer. What if I paid my bills like that. Rubbish and more rubbish!

Chief Winburn,

I agree 100%. Like you I’m still waiting for a sound driver that works with my system. :-(

Thanks for your comment. Ron

I have 2 HP Scanners. One is a Scanjet ADF 6300. The other is a HP Photosmart S20. They both work fine in XP and have since I bought them. HP has decided that I need to buy some new ones. And who do they think they are? I also have an HP laptop. I will never buy HP again.

Is there any hackers out there that know how to make drivers. It would be neat to show HP that they can not force you to buy new hardware.

Ron Schenone - May 6, 2007 @ 3:11 pm

Hi Lloyd,
Thanks for the comments.

Ron, just checked out that “free Vista driver” site. It states that: “All free sites have been temporarily disabled”. Guess the bandwidth was being hit hard!

Ron Schenone - February 16, 2008 @ 3:05 pm

Hi Don,
Try it again. It seems like it is now up and running again.
