Another rumor is spreading around on the Internet that a unknown source, allegedly from Microsoft, made mention to someone at the Consumer Electronic Show that Vista may not work correctly with OEM based software. Now……how vague is that?
So what does all this gibberish mean?
According to the OEM’s [original equipment manufactures] like Dell, HP, Gateway, whoever, in order to get the price of a PC down, they have resorted to what is commonly referred to as ‘crapware or craplet”, software. Not my terms. I usually refer to this as junk software. Why junk? Because some of the software that comes with a new PC is in fact junk. I’m not going to mention any specific company, but let’s face it people, this junk is useless for the most part. If I personally want to use ABC as my internet service provider, I can get a CD disk or download their software.
Here’s the catch. These companies pay the OEM’s to install this stuff on new PC’s. Thus the OEM’s by using junk software can lower the price to you the consumer. So you see. The OEM’s are actually doing us all a favor and we didn’t even know it. PLUS you get to spend several hours trying to uninstall the junk and gunk, which helps you get to know your PC better.
Now here is a guess on my part. I am going to guess that some of the junk software that is automatically installed on all new PC’s, may not be Vista compatible or meet the highest of standards according to Microsoft. Thus, it may distort your user experience.
Now that’s going to be a big “WOW.”
But again, this is only a rumor. Repeat after me, this is only a rumor, this is only a rumor…….
