Another Crack In Vista’s Armour - Pirates Circumvent Activation

Windows Vista operating systems will require that the product must be activated during the first 30 days of operation, or the product will automatically reduce functionality until activation takes place. Well it seems that a second crack is appearing that maintains Vista in a constant 30-day state, thus circumventing the activation process.
This morning I read a post in one of the newsgroups I belong to in which the poster has stated that the crack does, in fact, exist and does currently work. However, it was also cautioned that some Web sites posting the ‘crack’ may also be sending a virus along with the workaround. So it’s “pirate, beware!”
After reading about this, two thoughts came to mind:
- Did anyone really believe that Microsoft was going to have an operating system that couldn’t be cracked?
- Did anyone really believe that Vista was going to be more secure than previous Window versions?
I think that we will still have to take precautions just as we have done in the past to protect ourselves from those who have nothing better to do with their lives than to attack Windows.
I know this is going to sound callous, but for those deciding not to upgrade to Vista, there may be less attacks heading our way while the bad guys concentrate on Vista. Just a thought!
What do you think? Comments welcome.

My thought is that I will stay with Xp for many years. I was a windows 98 fan untill the new programs would not support any longer. I went from 98 to XP. I struggled with the newness and having to leave the old dog behind, but then I really started to like Xp. Now Xp is the old dog. 98 will not even load on new computers without lots of effort. Xp is the 98 of many years ago. The support will fade from microsoft over the years for Xp. The Xp will be the same as 98 in 10 -15 years. With me Xp will not die easy. I still try to install 98 on any new computer, with out much sucess. I will do the same for Xp. Vista will be cracked and so will every software that follows. The only way to stop a software from being cracked is to have a armed security guard with every copy sold, to keep an eye on it. But then again most security guards are not well paid so if you bribed them they would look the other way. Otherwords crackers are doing it for the thrill of cracking what is the uncrackable. In some circles in this world, Saying I cracked VISTA is like saying I am David I took down Golith.

Hello Kyle,
“The only way to stop a software from being cracked is to have a armed security guard with every copy sold, to keep an eye on it.”
Great comment. Some people might think this would be possible, seeing what MS is charging for their software.
Thanks for taking the time to post your thoughts.
