Santa Brought Me An HP Photosmart C5180 MFP Printer

I kept wondering what that box was under the tree, since it looked fairly large and also had some weight to it. I knew it couldn’t be a tie, or is someone playing a trick on me and putting a brick or two inside just to keep me guessing. On Christmas day it was a joy watching the grandkids open their presents, plus I knew that the racing car was going to be a blast playing with. I mean helping my grandson learn how it worked!

Then it was my turn. Well I got a new HP Photosmart C5180 all-in-one printer. Thanks, Santa. Installation was easy though the install seemed to drag on for a while, which is natural when you are standing over the computer. But overall, the software and driver installation was a no-brianer.

This HP is network ready and it was simple to hook up to my wireless network. In a matter of minutes I was printing from all of the computers in the house. I also noted that this puppy was fast. Several test letters I tried printed very quickly. The unit is tagged to print 32 ppm in black and color at 31 ppm. And photos should print in 12 seconds. (Haven’t tried that yet.)

What’s new to me is the six ink cartridge system. I’ve owned many HP printers and the cartridges are expensive to replace. But according to some articles I have read, this new system should reduce the cost on ink. As always, I will believe it when I see the cash register receipt.

Copying and scanning are also simple to use on this unit. And if I am able to claim the $50.00 rebate my wife says we having coming, it will even make this computer a better value.

I like everything about this unit, except that since I’ve had it (2-3 weeks), I can’t get the destination list to populate in the scan feature. I have an ongoing email dialog going with HP Total Care, but after everything they have had me do has not worked to get this feature to load. Glad to hear someone has a good working machine.

    Hello Bill,
Sorry to hear of your problems. I guess I should consider myself fortunate since I haven’t experienced any problems like you have.
Best of luck in getting the situation resolved.
