Free Vista - Free Office Wasn’t A Scam

A free copy of Vista and a free copy of Office? It must be a scam!
But over 30,000 IT professionals were able to get in on the offer before Microsoft’s affiliate hung the ‘Sold-Out” sign on its Web site.
I saw this posted on one of the forums I belong to. But no one was biting since one of the requirements was that you had to submit identifying information including your social security number since a 1099 form needed to be completed for tax purposes. Seems that any gift over $600 must be reported to the IRS. This turned a lot of folks off, since few wanted to provide this information to a unknown Web site.
This is a good example of how paranoid we’ve all become. Even when something is offered for free, we shy away. Maybe that’s a good thing.

Why even mention something like this, its just a tease to tell someone they lost out on a deal, actually I was interested, then p*ssed you had even wrote about it. I guess your point was just to point out how jaded everyone has become in responce to the word FREE, go figure.
