I have downloaded and installed the vista transformation pack. Its pretty good, you get some new features and a new look. the only snag is with the new screen savers i.e the bubbles, you need to do a few hacks in the reg for them to work properly. All in all a pretty good download. I would recommend it to anybody.

I downloaded and installed the Vista Transformation Pack, and it works great!!
The program actually makes your “XP” look like “Vista” and it has the extra of having a different “clock” and ” thumbnail images showing what you have “open”.. I will keep this for about a year (when all the bugs are out of the actual “Vista” program. Then check it out to see if there are really enough “changes” in it to purchase it. If not, I’m quite happy with the XP with the “vista” look !!

I installed the transormation pack when it first came out and it works great. Prefer that instead of the vista pro for a while. They will have a lot of fixing before I switch.

Hi Ron,
Found another one of your articles that interested me. I tried the transformation pack. It was an interesting program. The changes that it performs are very High quality in most cases. It fooled my wife, She was sure that I went out and spent money on the new Vista. Took me a couple off minutes and I got out of the dog house when I proved that it was still xp.
Joking aside, the transformation pack is a very high quality software. I have uninstalled, reinstalled it, I have reinstalled over top of an intall, I have abused it and used it. The program is rock solid. I will be staying with this look for awaile. I use talisman 2 shell at the same time and have found no interaction problems when going from one shell to another. The talisman 2 shell just negates the explorer side.
The only problem I have seen is when windowsblinds is installed and you try to install the transformation pack, the install is weak, You must unload windowblinds first. Then not let windowblinds load at startup.
I wanted to say that I find your articles well written and a pleasure to read, I also like the fact that the site is clean and easy to navigate.

Hello Kyle,
Thanks for taking the time to let us know about uninstalling windows blind first. That is great information and may save someone from having having to figure this out on their own.
And also I appreciate your comments and thanks for the compliments as well.
Take care,
Ron

You will go back to the Windows XP look. But remember to to make a REAL restore bakup - if somethings go wrong and it’s very hard to fix, just restore your system. I’ve got a problem for… ehmm.. must be 2 years or so.
It was Longhorn Transformation Pack. But now, I don’t cares about things like this anymore. I’m not complaining, it’s up2you, man (or women)!

I’ve tried this, and I must say it works good. Talking from someone who downgraded from Vista (yeah…I bought it first day), it is almost an exact replica.
One thing that is quite annoying, well two, one the Windows start sphere is slightly unaligned, I don’t know why. The other thing is that transparency won’t work (it worked on my vista, and several screenshots i’ve seen show it.
