Rogue Anti-Spyware Products

  • No Related Post

“Rogue/Suspect means that these products are of unknown, questionable, or dubious value as anti-spyware protection. Some of the products listed on this page simply do not provide proven, reliable anti-spyware protection or may be prone to ridiculous false positives. Others may use unfair, deceptive, high pressure sales tactics to scare up sales from gullible, confused users. A very few of these products are either associated with known distributors of spyware/adware or have been known to install spyware/adware themselves.” as quoted from the Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware Products & Web sites.

So what does this mean? Basically that some of the anti-spyware products being touted on the internet are either useless in removing spyware OR are themselves spyware. By checking the list from the web site linked above, you can readily determine if the product you are thinking about buying will actually work as stated or infect your system with unwanted parasites.

We have all been exposed to the pop-up advertisements that state ‘you may have been infected’ or similar wording, only to find that they are trying to sell you some type of software to protect your system. These gimmicks are designed to deceive the consumer into buying a software product that offers little or no value.

Buyer Beware !

A new rogue is VirusBurst. To Remove VirusBurst seems near impossible. First there was spyware sheriff then it was spywawe qauke. Now it is VirusBurst. These guys change so often to avoid spyware removers and the law.

Recent reports say there are a few more variants.

PestCapture
SystemDoctor
DriveCleaner
DIAremover
w32.myzor.fk@yf A virus of a few rogue programs
Protection Bar –> rogue toolbar
NetWorm-i.Virus@fp A virus of a few rogue programs also
Antivermins

just a few to mention… Beware!

Oh one more…
Safety Alerter 2006

Two more sites to add the latest rogue list. Both are the same versions, just with a makeover, as the ones before on this post. Virusburst and Pestcapture.

Here they are…

ContraVirus
Spycrush

Oh yes, here’s one more…
