Instagram for Android

Like to take a lot of pictures on your Android phone? Like to share a lot of pictures from your Android phone? If you’re like me, you are tired of having to go to different places to share across your various networks. If I take a picture of a pretty sunset and want to post it to Twitter and Facebook, I have to use two apps to post two separate pictures one by one. It’s not really an ideal solution, and can get a bit tedious if you want to share with your friends across multiple networks.
Enter picplz, an awesome new Android app which lets you manage your Android phone’s camera like never before. Similar to the always-popular Instagram on iPhone, picplz lets you take a picture, tag it with your location, add effects, and post on a multitude of social media networks all at once. If you can put photos on it, picplz supports it, including support for Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Flickr, Dropbox, and even Foursquare. Just download picplz, sign in to your various accounts, and the process is automated from there–any pictures you take inside picplz will be synced across all the networks that you’ve signed in to automatically.
In addition to picture syncing, Picplz also includes several filters and effects to add to your images to give them a bit of flair, if you will. There are a bunch of effects loaded into the app including “Instant Film” “Russian Toy Camera” and “The 70s.” Once you take the picture, just pick the filter you’d like to apply on the picture preview window and you’ll instantly see what it looks like with the filter applied. Play around–you can do some pretty neat things, and the filters do a good job of making usually drab cell phone pictures a little bit more artsy.
A feature that sets picplz apart from its competitors is that they are creating their own social network (or should I say, photo network) as well as connecting to your existing ones. When you sign up for picplz and sign into your Facebook account, for example, picplz will look through your friends and add anyone else with picplz to your picplz network. Just click the buddies icon inside picpls to go to your timeline, and you can see what photos your friends have been sharing. It’s pretty minimal now, but I can see it turning into something very cool with future updates of the program.
It’s always great to see Android get more creative, social apps, as that’s traditionally been a spot of weakness compared to the apps available on iOS. If you’re at all interested in photography or social media, check out picplz right away!
