A Plea From The Heart, Update Your Software

Whether you are a geek like myself, or just a casual computer user, there is something you probably love… Smooth functionality.

It doesn’t matter if you are a computer programmer, or do not even know what a gigabyte is, you want your machine and software to run smoothly and in harmony with every application you run. Why then is it that so many people are still running Internet Explorer 6 (or, in my opinion, IE at all)?

I have a plea for your own good as well as mine… Update your software. It isn’t hard, I promise. When that friendly box pops up and says “There is a new version of Adobe Flash available. Would you like to download it?” Please stop what you are doing and click “Yes”. Why take the time to keep your software up to date?

What benefit do you get from it? Well, for one, it enables your machine to run more proficiently. Ever since I purchased my Gateway M-XL notebook I have been unable to view youtube videos in full screen. My video card did not support the full screen playback feature on the current version of flash. Thankfully, the kind folks at Adobe saw this issue and fixed it on the new version of flash. Voila, full screen youtube.

You see? By keeping your software up to date you really take advantage of what your machine and various applications can do. And seeing as you probably dropped several hundred dollars on said machine, it is completely worth your time to get every penny out of it.

Now, reason number 2, soon you will have no choice. This morning (well, morning to me, afternoon to the normal populace) I installed the newest version of adobe flash for Internet Explorer. Not realizing that it did not also affect Safari, I went onto youtube, they were already only supporting the newest version of flash! That fast, my friends, that fast. Soon you will have no choice but to keep your software updated or you will be unable to use the applications and features you depend on. Some websites will even start dropping all support of older browsers in the near future.

So do yourself a favor and stay updated. amazenyou @yahoo.com

Windows 98 works for me. When the only thing that still works on my system is my contact with my credt union, there will be nothing else that I need. I am sick to death of bad buggy software being foisted off on me because some companies programmers are making 30K and they’re getting what they are paying for. Meanwhile a programmer like me that’s 62 can’t get a job to save my life. I used to be a big reader of real books. Can’t read books on-line. Hard on the eyes.
