I Like Meat!

Just a few days ago, a young man came to the door. He said hello and asked if we liked steaks. He said that his boss had a big special on meat. Now I don’t know about you, but I don’t like to buy meat from the back of a pickup truck. You just don’t know where it has been. I told the guy that my kids don’t really like meat that much (unless it comes in nugget form). He then turned and started back to his truck, when I heard a voice from beside me loudly proclaim:
“I like meat.”
It is true that this child does eat more meat than my other kids. He even likes bologna and cheese sandwiches, without the bread. He just sandwiches bologna between two slices of cheese.
The man obviously heard that little voice, because he turned back around to me and said that he would throw in some chicken and fish. I told him no thank you and he left, but my son was disappointed that I didn’t get any meat from the pickup truck, because he likes meat and pickup trucks. Therefore, he thinks that he would really like meat from a pickup truck.
Well, I think that I should just stop answering the door.

Go ahead and try it, we have gotten some pretty good meat from the back of trucks. As long as it has been frozen, you shouldn’t have troubles

Hi,
I worked for one of these companies for a while. While most of the beef is Choice grade and the fish and chicken is USDA inspected, there is a problem with the presentation. What we never said is that everything, steaks, chicken, pork and seafood has a liquid flavoring solution added to the product. So you are not getting the weight of product claimed, but a total weight including the liquid filler.
We were like independent contractors using company trucks and freezers. We paid around $100 per 20 pound case that contained about 75 “portions”. We would present it as being $2.00 a steak and sell the box for $150.00. Of course we never emphasized the fact that there were a lot of “steak burgers” aka 4 ounce hamburgers in the box and they cost around $2.00 each also.
While not really a scam, there were choice 5 ounce bacon wrapped fillets, strip steaks, sirloin steaks etc. they were fortified with the liquids
The total product contained in a case was 20 pounds and at $150 dollasrs, the actual cost per pound was $7.50 per pound for steaks as well as hamburger.
The meat was good, We had BBQs in the warehouse and it all tasted great.
Overpriced, yes, Quality, very good. I sold many large families as many as 4 boxes of pork, chicken steaks and seafood and helped them to pack them into their freezer.
BTW, we gave people a free freezer with a purchase of 10 cases @ $150.00 each ($1500.00) that had a cost to me of a total of under $1200.00 as we got discounts per case if we sold a certain quota oer day.
