Alpha Geek TV’s slow train running to the back of the beyond fires into hyper drive with its first program Outside of the Echo Chamber - an exhibition of Chris Pirillo. What will probably be one of the precursors to our upcoming series THE LAST OF THE BUFFALO AND THE NEW BARBARIANS, love, like him or “think he’s a tool,” he is not only a geek’s geek, but a thinking geek’s geek. If there is a way out of our national nightmare turned global socio-economic meltdown, it will take some real HAVE GUN WILL TRAVEL cerebral gunslingers to help us turn ideas into action and Pirillo is one of the New Barbarians that fit the bill.
To the degree that Chris has done what he’s done to date, the sheer volume and interest make him a legend in this space. Now our visit will cement this particular tree ring of conversation into space and time. We will periodically drop a post to give you some “signage” and hook you up with some of the magic moments or happy accidents we had with Chris outside of the formal questions.
With this throwdown you will find Chris “I’m just a geek” Pirillo in full meta0meta vision discussing the battery life extension benefits of the LED backlight for 15 inch MacBooks, cost savings of freeware, webcam max for Windows and its relation to oral sex, cam twist video effects and RSS feeds, his dog Pixie’s iPhone, and the fact that most Windows apps behave like white trash cousins.
When approached about sportswriting for Alpha Geek TV, I responded with “I know a little about sports and less about technology.” I felt this endeared me to the endeavor when I was told to just try and write a follow up post for anything remotely interesting so you can grab a part of the thread as your dribble becomes another voice in The Echo Chamber.
Geeks come in all shapes and sizes. We are going to be brushing brains with some famous people and some you need to look a little harder to see because they are tree top flyers. We hope that you enjoy our geeks from all the various knowledge communities that we feel so privileged to be invited in for table talk. To that end I’ll leave you with an honorary member of the San Pedro chapter of Alpha Geek TV. He is a bass geek supreme, as well as a Godfather of the DIY culture. If you don’t know who Mike Watt is, we are going to show you right here, right now. Don’t just watch.

I have always admired Mr. Watt’s musical talent on the bass. Including his time in Minutemen, fIREHOSE, and his solo tunage. I had no idea he was a geek at heart.. This has given me a whole new respect for the man..
