Past sponsors have learned that this position is most effective when they use text copy in combination with a small graphic. Your best bet is to use ~50 words and two embedded hyperlinks, with an accompanying (small) logo or image. Some have opted to use a mere 468x60 banner, but we gently remind them that people tend to read paragraphs and only look at graphics. Again, what you want here is almost completely up to you - we just provide the space and the audience. These spots are highlighted in a subtle yellow to stand out more. Rates vary.
Exactly like the top spot, although this area is best suited for a short paragraph. We request that you keep the entry to ~35 words with a single hyperlink and no accompanying (small) image. This entry will appear midway between the beginning and the close of a publication. Rates vary.
Essentially, we can republish your announcement to our audience (in full or excerpt form). In layman's terms, we'll get your name directly in front of hundreds of thousands of consumers and you won't really have to re-write anything (DTC). If you've already written something for your company, you might as well get more out of it! Sure, there's always a chance that a big publisher will pick it up and pass it along to your intended audience - but we'll save you the time, energy, and worry by publishing it in one of Lockergnome's channels. You may include one URL and contact information (Name, E-mail, Phone, FAX). Press releases will appear inline with other Lockergnome content, prepended by a note that reads: "Fresh from the Lockergnome Press Release Service." Rates vary.
Do you want to get your message in front of our audience on a regular basis? Try sponsoring a channel section! When we put your ad copy together with useful, targeted information - everybody walks away a winner. You get to publish your brand through Lockergnome on a regular basis - and our subscribers get to read relevant content. Here's the idea: we take your product or service industry, design a related set of tips and tricks to last us the entire month (which you may or may not already have in house), then place a "Brought to you by..." line at the top of the section. It's not as evil as it may sound! For years, programmers have allowed users to change the appearance of an application. We thought: why not let sponsors do the same thing for our channels? For a premium price, your company has the freedom to assume all regular advertising spots, include extended copy, and receive bonus images throughout the publication. At times in the past, we've created new channels and opportunities out of thin air - out of a need from an interested sponsor. If you see a space that could accomodate your face, by all means - let's talk! Here are a few examples that were integrated out of sponsor need, and still are actively used today.
E-mail, Web, RSS - you name it! When we publish content, it's pushed out in these various formats. Believe us when we say that our subscribers are THRILLED to receive our information in the format of their choosing. We make it comfortable for them, so that when they see a sponsor's message, they're even more receptive to receiving it. If you care to advertise only through one delivery vehicle (E-mail, Web, or RSS), that can certainly be arranged.
We can accomodate JPG and GIF images through every delivery mechanism on every channel, but Flash media and JavaScript are strictly reserved for the Web site (due to e-mail and news aggregator security restrictions). We will accept most IAB sizes (468x60 Banner, 728x90 Leaderboard, 160x600 Skyscraper, and 125x125 Button). We will also entertain offers for Interstitials and PDF co-branding.
We will not accept: advertisements or products with Spyware, any 'pop-whatever' media, list rental (please try our Exclusive Focus, instead).
Ah, the dreaded affiliate program. The short answer is: not outright. The long answer is: we're willing and able to work with partners on a hybrid model. Generically, these programs devalue branding - and that's exactly what Lockergnome is offering existing and potential sponsors. It's impossible to track complete results online - just as it's near impossible to measure the success of a television, radio, or print campaign. We will deliver you an unlimited amount of impressions - which is part of the beauty of publishing in RSS.
On a basic level, yes. We are building the required components to strengthen this angle for your advertising campaigns. For the time being, however, we have encouraged sponsors to create a co-branded page that will receive our "Gnomies" with open arms. The more you can help us customize your message to our audience, the happier you will be with your ROI.
We've found that it doesn't matter how our audience receives our content - as long as they receive it. An up-and-coming format is something that's commonly known as RSS (which, again, stands for Really Simple Syndication). RSS another great way to get your message in front of people who are interested in receiving information. Lockergnome has been quoted heavily in the press for its enterprising efforts in merging targeted sponsorship with these new content delivery mechanisms. We've had instances where companies actually return to advertise inside some of our feeds because they can't get the same quality responses elsewhere! As an added bonus, when you advertise in Lockergnome's channels, there's a chance (if your advertising copy is REALLY good and REALLY targeted), it may get picked up by other Web sites that love reading what Lockergnome sends 'em!
