Lockergnome Bloggers: Make It Count!

Chris recently sent this out to our list of contributors, but it seems some haven’t gotten it. So I’m reposting it here for posterity!

  1. Watch your capitalization, grammar, spelling, etc.
  2. If you can’t bother to post at least a full paragraph or two, please don’t bother posting. This has been a big problem that we’re trying to resolve — even other contributors have made note of it.
  3. While we would prefer that people post completely unique content on Lockergnome, it’s fine to republish stuff from another of your own blogs — as long as you republish entries in their entirety and not just a few sentence blurbs that serve merely to link back to the original source. This isn’t to discourage you from mentioning that you’ve originally published something somewhere else (in fact, it’s fine to put a link at the end of an entry saying something like “Originally published by the author on 03/17/09 at “); we just don’t want Lockergnome readers to have to click on multiple links to read a full article. Think of Lockergnome as an audience separate from the one you’ve already got at your own blog — not merely a billboard for advertising your blog.
  4. Link and credit your sources — and if you don’t have any specific sources, you might find a few to back up your assertions.
  5. FrenzyTech is a spam site — please stop letting those trackbacks get posted through your blog. Always, ALWAYS check to see if the site linking back to you is merely scraping your content. There’s virtually no way to stop them from stealing your original work, but I’m working on ways to curb their piracy.
  6. It’s great to see that many of you are posting on the day’s events, but… only a fraction are bothering to provide their own insight and perspective beyond a simple sentence or two.
