Body for Life - NOT a New Year’s Resolution

Today it is Body for Life, a program developed by Bill Phillips, founder of EAS. Three months ago it was just an idea I had, a thought on how I could add to the corporate culture where I work. My company is like a big family, and many of our sales reps consider this their second home. While we have helped them realize some of their professional goals and aspirations, I wanted to extend that into their personal lives as well to feed the whole person.

My idea was to start a goal club. This would be a support group of people seeking various personal goals, with weekly meetings, a monthly newsletter, and, more important, people to kick you in the butt when you are slacking and give you accolades when you are succeeding.

I brought this up with our training manager, Matt, because this would fall into his area of expertise. He loved it, but his next response turned my world upside down.

“If you really want this to gain traction, you need to lead by example” he said. “People will follow success before they follow the promise of success. That’s why the guys like Bill Phillips get people to do what they say, because they are the model of success for their system. You won’t see some fat slob pitching an ab machine because no one would believe it worked unless the pitchman was fit.”

Anyway, I started Body for Life on January 1st. My body is sore all over, and eating six times a day is really weird but I am excited nonetheless. I expect I’ll have subsequent posts that will track my progress, but I refuse to post my before pics until I am satisfied with my after pics.
