There been a surge of complaints related to the box office hit, cloverfield, of moviegoers becoming ill due to the first person style of shooting. Complaints of naseau and dizziness has caused a number of moviegoers to have to leave the theatres. People who are affected by these complaints are most likely victims of vertigo - a sensation of movement caused by the brain misinterpreting environmental stimuli/surroundings. The reason that Cloverfield was shot in this Blair Witchesque - first person style was to engage the audience on a more involved level. The director intended for the audience to feel as if they are a part of the movie - mission accomplished!
I think that this just what the doctor ordered for thrill seeking individuals, who are looking for the next “cool thing”. I definitely will be getting my tickets. I just hope the person I am sitting next to doesn’t lose his/her lunch. I have heard of amusement park rides making people ill, but a movie? I got to find out for myself.
HiiiiiiYah!
