Tata motors unveiled their latest achievement, “The Nano”. No, this is not an ipod, but a super compact vehicle making car ownership possible for many lower income level families in India. The manufacturer has stated that this car can fit up to 5 passengers, has only one windshield wiper, no airbags, and can reach speeds up to 60mph delivered from the monstrous 2-cylinder, 33 horsepower engine.

It looks like a cart from a rollercoaster that has been made street legal.
While the pricing strategy will help this company sell more vehicles, climate and traffic analysts argue that this will only increase the existing high levels of pollution and make traffic jams even worse, by adding more vehicles to the already over-crowded roadways. Two cylinder engines, like those found on scooters and small motorcycles within India and parts of Europe, emit a large amount of pollutants into the air. Despite the warnings from environmentalists, the chairman of Tata motors has stated that their Nano will pass the current European emission standards, polluting less than the scooters and motorcycles that are currently on the roads.
Tata motors hopes to export this car in the near future.
