Glowing Cats? Are you serious?

  • No Related Post

glowsticks, day-glo backpacks, glow-in-the-dark stickers, glowing t-shirts and glowing……cats? Yes, this morning on the front page of yahoo I spotted an article on glowing cats. As, I sipped my Peet’s coffee (Major Dickason’s blend - best coffee in the world) I thought to myself, “no, this can’t be true - I mean seriously…is it? ” The answer is yes. South Korean scientists have successfully cloned cats by manipulating a fluorescent protein gene - a procedure which could aid in the treatment of human genetic disorders. However, I am sure, to the surprise of the scientists, the little cloned kitties began to glow-in-the-dark after exposure to ultraviolet beams. Can you imagine the look on everyone’s face when they turned the lights out in the lab and the cloned kitties luminesced with an orange “rick james aura”? I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in that lab.

How long will it be before Petsmart begins to sell luminescing injections? I can see the infomercials now:
Having trouble finding your pet at night? (cut to footage of person with a puzzled look on their face, being very over-dramatic)
Well with PetGlow injections you will never lose your little buddy again (show pet glowing in the dark and the beautiful reuniting of pet and pet owner - ah the wonders of science!

Jack…

Thanks for the nice read, keep up the interesting posts…..

Think of how safe your cats and dogs will be if they glow. Fluffy could dart across the street in the middle of the night, and her life could be spared by the passing car because she was illuminated! Or, say you lose Spike, the hamster, instead of wasting hours on end looking for the the little freak, all you’d have to do is wait for dark, when Spike is most active, and wait for his glowing body to crawl out of a hiding place! Brilliant I say!….I can’t wait until Harry, the horse, is able to illuminate his pasture!
