Top 5 Best Christmas Holiday/Winter Themed Mini-Video Games

  • No Related Post

Like any geek, I often find myself looking for creative and fun ways to pass the time when I am bored. Since we all know how much THE GNOME likes the holiday season, I thought I would throw together a list of what I believe to be the best Christmas holiday/winter themed mini-video games that you can play online. So grab yourself a cup of coffee or hot chocolate and let’s get ready to game!

#1) The Original Elf Bowling (single player game) - Need I Say More?
In this downloadable game, Santa gets payback! Those naughty little union elves have pushed ol’ Saint Nick to the edge for the last time. You get to play Santa Claus, the pro bowler, and hurl your shiny Christmas bowling ball down the lane at 10 of the most annoying little elves. What makes this game fun are the antagonizing remarks that the elves make prior to you releasing the bowling ball in an attempt to get you to throw a gutter ball. Nstorm, the company who produced this masterpiece, releases a new version each year. Each year I eagerly await the new release, where a new style of game is introduced. Previous versions have included slingshot, curling, and more. Check it out! Nothing feels better than smashing smart-mouthed elves… see if you can put them in their place!

#2) Line Rider (single player game) - One of my Favorites
A browser-based flash game where you get to create the “fun” or in some cases the “mayhem” by designing a course for your innocent sledder to dash through, launch into the air, and hopefully land without crashing. Check this game out for sure! It will challenge your creativity and your knowledge of physics. This game definitely has a cult following with 16 million views and 11,000 shared videos of different line rider courses - so you know this one is popular for a reason. Take Line Rider for a test sled. Just don’t blame me if you get addicted.

#3) Snowfight (single player game) - Wooooot!
Robot Duck Games has created a masterpiece with Snowfight. This browser-based shockwave game will have you in the holiday spirit within minutes. It features a funky soundtrack, fun and colorful 3D cartoon graphics, and great user-controlled functions such as: gather snowballs, duck, cast snowballs, and jump. In this game you advance through different stages by navigating through small townscapes while casting snowballs at snowmen and other children. Try not to get stunned by the AI snowballs!

#4) Snowcraft (single player game) - The Original Digital Snowball Fight
This is a browser-based mini-game requiring the shockwave plugin. This game is a classic and has been around since 1998. Basically you throw snowballs at an opposing team trying to knock them out (similar to dodgeball). You start with three players that you can move independently and also hurl snowballs with! The game is set in stages where after each round you complete, more players are added to opposing team. This game does not require much thought but is certainly fun with the mouse in one hand and a warm cup of coffee in the other. Enjoy!

#5) Santa’s Winter Workout (single player game) - Quick But Fun
This browser-based flash game is simple in its design but that is what makes this game so much fun. Help Santa get his fat booty in shape by working out on his long jump, sprinting abilities, and more.
