My Computer’s Body Guard

Slow running computers, hard drives that need defragging, optimizing your settings, spyware/malware elimination, and the list of ailments and chores goes on and on for today’s computer. Luckily, there is a great solution out there that will help you monitor what is going on with your system. Iolo’s System Mechanic will keep your lil boxed buddy running smoothly. I purchased version 6.0 of this product last year and I have to say that it has done a spectacular job of keeping my vulnerable windows system in shape.

It has a very intuitive GUI that displays your system’s overall fitness with two different meters. In the screenshot below you can see that the system health is metered at LOW (prompting the user to optimize the system - the user has the choice to let the program run automatically or select what items you would like to optimize) and the system security is metered at FAIR (prompting the user to secure the system)

I have really enjoyed using the visual defrag client that shows the out of sync clusters and disorganized data. As it begins to defrag you can visually watch the clusters being reorganized - geeky yes, but really cool. The same rings true for the system mechanic RAM defragger that optimizes your RAM and restores your memory after stingy programs have finisehd sucking it up. I have also found value in the registry protect/optimizer. The program takes snapshots of the registry while the system is in working order and then uses those values to compare to the registry when a potential risk is discovered. The registry is rolled back to the working condition after you agree to the prompt. These are but 2 of the highlights of this robust program. At 49.95 you get a great value!

Aside from winning several different awards and having my seal of approval (whatever thats worth - lol), I think that this program is definitely worth trying out for free! See if you like it as much as I do.
